CarnotCloud was founded by engineers and FinOps practitioners who spent years running large cloud estates — and watching a quarter of the bill vanish into waste nobody could see. We built the platform we always wanted.
Why “Carnot”?
A 200-year-old idea for the most modern problem in IT.
In 1824, French physicist Sadi Carnot published a short book that founded thermodynamics. Its central insight: every heat engine has a theoretical maximum efficiency — the Carnot limit — set by physics, not by engineering effort.
Cloud infrastructure has a limit too. Not every dollar can be eliminated, but every dollar can be put to useful work. Our mission is to measure exactly how close each team runs to that limit — and give them the tools to close the gap.
That’s why our logo carries a Carnot cycle inside a cloud, and why the Carnot Efficiency Score sits at the heart of our product.
